$500 for food/survival prep
Tomorrow I am allowocating about 500 FRN's for survival prep. Now, I got my garden (rooftop) going pretty nicely, with my 12 earthboxes, so the food production thing is going good.
I have probably like a month's worth of canned food/rice. As a sidenote I don't want to keep massive amounts of food becasue one, I don't have the room, and 2, I mean, seriously, how much food should I really store? I mean if I have 6 months worth or 6 years worth, am I going to really solely rely on food storeage and once it runs out my life is over? Even third world countries can procure some food. Anyway... (I know i need more food...) Okay, so I am looking to spend the 500 on maybe a rifle or shotgun, some more food, probably not PM's just yet. I got a nice water purifier the other day. I am really just looking for some ideas. Know my guns/ammo department is nil right now, so I want to address that, but what else should I be looking into? I am looking for ideas. I am going shopping this weekend. First stop Gander Mountain for a rifle or shotgun and some ammo. Maybe 10 SAE's as well. And more storable food. What else????? |
Re: $500 for food/survival prep
SAE's are for investing. 90% dimes are for preps, in my opinion.
Invest in your health. It may be the one resource that you'll need the most. Without it, you have no hope, no matter what kind of other preps you've made. |

FYI, "bricks of ammo" is a term commonly used to refer to a package of .22 ammo containing 500 rounds. These cost about $12-14 per brick at Wally World. |
